It is late, the cycle closes tomorrow, and you want to know whether you have made your chest target. You do not need to open the portal for that. Send one word — crypt — to your clan's chest grabber account in the game, and the portal answers you in the game, usually within a few seconds.

That is the whole idea of the chat bot: a private conversation inside Total Battle with one particular account, where every message you send is read as a question and answered from the portal's own figures. No app, no login, no leaving the game — and no message to your leader at eleven at night asking whether you made the cycle.

What the bot is, and what it is not

The bot is not a member of your clan chat. It reads exactly one thing: private messages sent to your clan's chest grabber account — the account the portal uses to collect your clan's chests. It does not read the clan chat or any group chat, and it never answers there.

It only ever replies. It does not start conversations, it does not introduce itself when you join, and it will not message you out of the blue. Until you write to it first, you will hear nothing from it.

It answers about you and your clan: your points, your chests, your penalties, your CP balance, the clan's events, runs and announcements. It cannot look up another member's figures. The leadership commands at the end of this guide are the one exception, and they answer for the clan as a whole.

Before you start

Three things have to be true. None of them is something you set yourself — they are the state of your clan and of your character — but each one is easy to check.

Your first message

How to write to it

• Just the word. No slash, no @, no "bot". crypt, not /crypt.
• Capitals do not matter. CRYPT, Crypt and crypt are the same command.
• Say it your way. Most commands understand several phrasings. my balance, how much cp and cp all give the CP balance; what events and active events both give the events list. A whole sentence usually works too — "how many crypt points do I have" reaches crypt.
• A slip of the finger is forgiven. cript and crpyt are read as crypt.
• It is polite, briefly. "hi" gets "Hi!" and "thanks" gets "You're welcome!".
• "ok" gets nothing back — on purpose. Write ok, noted, yes or done and the bot stays silent. An acknowledgement does not need an acknowledgement.
• When it does not understand, it says so: "Unknown command. To see all commands reply: help". Nothing is guessed on your behalf.

Two more things the bot understands are not commands at all: a line of troop levels such as G8 S5 M7, and the leadership commands. Both have their own chapter below.

Reading the replies

Every reply has the same shape: a heading in capitals, then short lines of label: value. The one you will read most often is CHEST CYCLE STATUS, the answer to crypt.

YOUR STATUS, the answer to me, is the compact version of the same thing: CRYPT shows your net points against the target with OK or NO, CHESTS does the same against the chest target when there is one, then CP, PENALTIES and CHESTS TODAY. If your clan has no cycle running, CRYPT simply says so.

Updating your troop levels from the game

The one thing the bot lets you change is your troop levels on your player record — the G, S, M, E, AM and MB levels the portal uses when it groups you for targets, CP runs and the leaderboard. You do not need a command word for it. A line of levels is recognised on its own.

Send as many or as few as you like, in any order: G8, G8S5M7, G8 S5 M7, g-8 and updated G8 S5 are all read the same way. The reply is STATS UPDATED with one line per level that changed, old value to new. A value outside its range is refused with the allowed range spelled out, and the other levels in the same message are still applied.

Conversations that take more than one message

Most commands are one message in, one message out. Three are not, and knowing which is which saves a confusing minute.

Sending an epic alert

epic does not send anything yet. The bot replies with EPIC ALERT, asks you to paste the coordinates, shows an example — K:123 X:456 Y:789 — and tells you how many alerts you have left. Paste the coordinates as your next message and the alert goes out to every clan member who has epic alerts switched on, by Discord and by portal notification. The reply says how many notifications went where.

• You can send two alerts per five minutes. The reply always shows what is left.
• The question waits two minutes for your coordinates. After that, start again with epic.
• Write cancel to abort while it is waiting.
• "No clan members have epic alerts enabled" means nobody in the clan has switched the alert on in their portal notification settings. The alert was accepted; there was simply nobody to send it to.

Answering a survey or a pulse round

survey or pulse opens the round your clan has running: the bot sends the first question and ends with STOP to pause. From that moment everything you write is an answer — yes, no, a number, a sentence — until you write STOP. Other commands are read as answers too, so finish the round or pause it before you ask for your points. Write survey or pulse again and you carry on from where you paused.

Joining a CP run

runs lists every upcoming run with a number in front of it, and under each one a line that reads Reply "signup 47" to join. Send exactly that. The bot confirms, and cancel 47 takes you off again. If the run is full, closed, or the number does not exist, the reply says which.

Writing in your own language

You can write to the bot in your own language. When a message is not recognised as a command in English, the bot translates it to work out what you meant and then answers — meine Truhen lands on chests the same as my chests does. A handful of spellings are built in without translation: crypto, crypta and cripta all reach crypt, and a thank-you in Danish, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Polish or Turkish gets the same "You're welcome!".

The replies, however, are always in English. Total Battle's own translate button works on private messages, and it gives you a better translation than the bot could — chest names and clan names stay as they are, and the command words stay as words the bot understands. When a reply says reply "help", that word is what to send, in English, whatever language you are reading in.

When the bot does not answer

Silence has a short list of causes, and most of them are visible from where you sit.

For clan leadership

Everything above is what your members experience. This chapter is the part only you can do: switching the bot on, knowing where its messages show up, and the commands that answer for the clan rather than for one member.

Switching it on

The welcome message is not the bot

The bot does not introduce itself to new members, and it sends no welcome. What a new member receives on joining is your clan's own welcome, written by you as the Player Joined (system welcome) auto announcement under Clan Management → Announcements. A clan that has not written one sends nothing — there is no standard text. The welcome goes out from the chest grabber account, so a member who replies to it is already talking to the bot.

Seeing what the bot sent

Clan Management → Messages lists everything your clan sends in the game, and the bot's replies are in that list under the type Reply to a player. You see the reply and who it went to, not the member's question, and the list keeps 30 days.

The leadership commands

Two different permissions are in play, and the bot checks them separately. The first six commands look at your rank in the game: Leader or Superior. The last three look at your role on the portal: the clan's owner, or an admin of the clan. A Superior who is not a portal admin gets missing but not lock; a portal admin who is a Soldier in the game gets lock but not missing.

If the bot goes quiet

When the game mutes your chest grabber account, the portal shows you a banner headed Chest Grabber Muted with a What to do link. These mutes are normally permanent and Total Battle rarely lifts them; the reliable fix is a new game account as chest grabber, switched over where the account is set up. Chest counting, member sync and every statistic are unaffected in the meantime. And if the clan's subscription lapses, the chest grabber account is suspended and the bot goes quiet with it — it comes back on its own when the subscription does, without touching the switch.

Common conclusions

• The bot lives in one private conversation — with the chest grabber account, in the game. It reads nothing else and answers nowhere else.
• It never writes first. A member who has heard nothing from it has simply not written to it yet.
• help is the whole manual, and me is the whole dashboard.
• The figures are as fresh as the last chest scan, and the reply tells you when that was.
• Replies are English on purpose. The game's translate button does the rest.
• Silence for one member is about that member — the chest grabber account, or a roster the portal has not caught up with. Silence for everyone is about the account or the switch.
• Leadership commands come in two kinds: rank in the game for the clan's figures, role on the portal for the chest grabber account.
